The races for Monterey County Supervisor are still too close to call.  As of Wednesday morning, Luis Alejo was in the lead in District 1.  Jane Parker looks poised to hang on to her seat with her lead in the District 2 race.  And Mary Adams has a strong lead in the race for the District 5 seat.  The candidates need more than 50% of the vote to win now and avoid a November runoff.

UPDATE

With all precincts reporting, it looks like the Monterey County Board of Supervisors will get at least one new face.  Preliminary election results show Mary Adams beating longtime incumbent Dave Potter for the District 5 seat.    She ended the night with 56% of the vote. It's enough to skip a runoff election in November.

Supervisor Jane Parker got  57% of the vote and retains her seat representing District 4. And it looks like the final open seat on the Monterey County Board of Supervisors is headed for a runoff election in November between the top two candidates.  Preliminary results show that race will be between Luis Alejo and incumbent Fernando Armenta.

In the races for Santa Cruz County Supervisor, preliminary results show the incumbents hanging on to their seats. John Leopold in District 1, Zach Friend in District 2 and Bruce McPherson in District 5 each currently have more than 70% of the vote.
